I am Professor of European Politics at Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen. My academic work predominantly focuses on legislative processes in the European Union and matters of comparative public policy. Since April 2019, I have been leading an Emmy Noether research group entitled "EUPLEX - Coping with policy complexity in the European Union", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In this project, we investigate what policy complexity is, how it can measured, where it comes from and how it affects political processes like decision-making and implementation.

Since 1 October 2024, I have been leading the project "DEMOLAW - The Design, Creation and Survival of Democratic Laws", a Consolidator Grant funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
